Stourbridge glassmaking heritage celebrated
The launch of a new website is responding to the growing demand for unique, stylish, modern handmade glass and interiors products, while celebrating a Midland town’s glassmaking history.
The Stourbridge Glass International Collection is the brainchild of Steve Parker, who was born in the heart of the once world capital of glass making.
Steve told us:
“Since 1999 I have studied glass worldwide and when I had the chance to mix business with pleasure, by bringing together a collection of the very best local companies and individual artists, the opportunity was too much to resist – using my business expertise to put together a group aimed at saving 400 years’ history of Stourbridge glassmaking.
“The collection includes a diverse and exciting range of colourful, unique and limited edition vases, bowls, commissions, interiors, glassware and jewellery, in addition to some fabulous feature designs for hotels, malls and superior residences. It means that interior designers, architects and discerning individual buyers no longer have to rely on mass produced glassware, or spend huge amounts of time searching for suitable products that make their commercial buildings and residences stand out from the crowd, yet express their personalities.
“All of the artists are committed to the collection and developing sales and partnerships in worldwide markets, and direct enquiries from private individuals, galleries or companies are always welcome.”
The website, stourbridge-glass.com, includes illustrated details of all the featured artists and companies, as well as background on Stourbridge’s glassmaking history.
