Five storage options below £150 for even the smallest garden
As our sister site the Garden & Landscape Directory once wrote, “from storing tools to (occasionally) escaping from the kids or the other half, sheds are, quite simply, inherently useful.”
The range of types, materials, sizes and prices can be baffling, though – and there’s also a need to think about what you’re intending to use your garden storage for, and what the implications of that are in terms of keeping everything safe and secure.
Added to that, there are plenty of homeowners who lack the space, or perhaps the budget, to accommodate a fully fledged shed in the first place.
That doesn’t mean you can’t work in some handy storage solutions, though. Our friends at Simply Log Cabins have plenty of small storage options – listed on their website here – which can help you maintain a tidy garden or yard without taking up loads of space or breaking the bank.
So, here are five of our favourites this winter, all perfect for dinkier gardens, and all costing less than £150.
1. Rowlinson Plastic Utility Cabinet – £74
Standing less than a metre high, this weatherproof plastic cabinet from Rowlinson Garden Products is compact enough to slot into a underused corner, but easy enough on the eye that you won’t want to hide it away.
2. Forest Garden 4×2 Dip Treated Overlap Storage Box – £88
If you haven’t got space for a full shed, a storage box like this one from Forest Garden is a great alternative.
Standing just 64 cm high, you can easily slot this under a window against a wall, and keep gear like your hosepipe and plant pots safely tucked away during the winter.
3. Shire Shiplap Garden Store 2×2 – £109
Just because a garden store is small, it doesn’t mean you can’t make a feature of it.
We love the cute appearance of this skinny but roomy garden store from Shire Garden Buildings – ready to be painted whatever colour you choose – and its 2′ x 2′ footprint means finding a spot for it is a breeze.
4. Storemore Emerald Metal Storage Box 4×2 – £112
With Storemore, you can get robust metal storage for not much more than £100.
This one costs just £112 for the 4′ x 2′ model in green or grey, with its built-in latch – ready for you to add your own padlock – making it a good option if you need a bit of extra security.
Made from sturdy galvanised steel, this metal box will keep your the cushions from your outdoor furniture safe and dry over the winter, no problem.
5. Forest Garden Pressure Treated Shiplap Apex Garden Store – £145
This handy little garden store looks like a traditional shed, but its depth of just 51 cm means it will fit into the narrowest of spaces. Even so, you’ll find plenty of space inside for stowing away your garden tools and folding furniture.
Meanwhile, the attractive and quality shiplap cladding means it’s a garden accessory you’ll be proud to show off!
