Electric heating supplier Intelli Heat embraces the Internet of Things with new smart radiator
You’ve probably seen Intelli Heat listed in our Directory already – it’s a multi-award-winning electric heating supplier that’s been established in the UK for over 15 years, and offers Italian fully controllable electric heating systems.
Intelli Heat’s cutting-edge domestic and commercial heating solutions already offer exceptional energy cost savings, but now its heating systems are moving well and truly into the digital age – and embracing the Internet of Things (IoT) – with the launch of the new i-Sense Wifi Smart Radiator.
What is the Internet of Things?
The Internet of Things is the internetworking of physical devices (also known as “connected devices” or “smart devices”), buildings and other items. Because they are embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuators and network connectivity, these objects are able to collect and exchange data that augments user interaction with the “smart device”.
Experts estimate that the IoT will consist of almost 50 billion objects by 2020, and whilst this might still seem a fair way off off, the revolution of connectivity is becoming more and more prevalent within the devices in our homes and offices. Our article from last year on smart homes gives some examples of how smart technology is already being implemented in areas as diverse as bath tubs, lighting and security.
Intelli Heat UK has been studying the IoT concept for a number of years now, to understand how best to integrate the connectivity revolution into the most energy-thirsty devices in our homes and offices: the heating systems.
i-Sense Wi-fi smart radiator
That’s where the new i-Sense Wi-fi Smart Radiator comes in, as a smart system that will study the user’s lifestyle patterns over the initial month, and then prompt the user to revise their heating settings based on that intelligence.
This analysis will continue throughout the lifecycle of the product, meaning that the settings are always delivering the most efficient usage patterns.
As our friends at Intelli Heat explain, “it is this enhanced level of user and device interaction which is at the heart of the IoT concept, and which delivers the capacity for users to enjoy a more efficient and intuitive heating experience through the Intelli Heat system.”
